Another beauty from the North Umpqua. Tony,a fellow guide and operator of Summerrun Guide Service tailed this chrome hen for me for a quick pic and release.
The last high water brought in some fish but they are going to the beds quick. About time to leave them alone for the year. The fishing was good this winter but low, clear water conditions made it a little tougher than normal. All our water came late and consequently, many fish sat in the lower river and got hammered by bait, plug and gear guys. I would like to see a single hook law in the bait water. They fish with as many as three treble hooks down there. In a catch and release fishery, that doesn't seem right.
Now booking trips for summer steelhead in the fly water, give me a call and get on the calender!
